The mermaid life

I really do wish I was a mermaid. I want perfect pastel coloured hair that reaches my bum, and I want a pearly silver fishtail and a shell bra. I want to have fish friends and a dolphin for my BFF.

Living by the sea, instead of in it is probably the closest I'm going to get to my mermaid dream, but I'm happy to settle for that and the photos above tell you why. Because it's beautiful! I love the beach so much, it's my favourite place to be and I am SO lucky to have it literally on my doorstep. This evening was extra pretty because there was a full moon which was shining over the North Sea, and the sky was a gorgeous pink/purple colour. I was thankful I was well enough to go and sit down there whilst my mama threw the ball for Barney and let him run wild (I think he might even love the beach more than me!)

Sometimes just going down and listening to the sound of the waves and looking into the distance fascinated that straight ahead on the other side of the water you'll find Holland, is the perfect thing to take my mind off any pain and stress. Well, providing it's not too cold/windy/raining that is!

Do you wish you were a mermaid too?

  1. I am pretty jealous! It looks beautiful :) I have 3 dogs but only 1 of them likes to play, but hopefully if I can manage, we'll be able to take her to a doggy friendly beach :D x

    1. It's so relaxing to be by the sea, on a nice day or evening anyway! The beach by my house is a haven for dog walkers, it's more like a dog club than a beach

  4. oh my gosh same! I want long pastel hair and sparkles down to my fin. Also, I'm just the same when it comes to beaches. They are MY favourite place too. I'm always so transfixed by the sea and will find myself staring out for ages. When it's sunny though.
The sky in the last photo is perfect

  5. The pearlescent nail colour does fit in well with the ocean and shore neutrals. I'm not that good of a swimmer, so I think I'll stay on land, but I like living near the ocean. Water and especially great bodies of water are soothing for the anxious soul. That's when it's normal weather. When the storms are up, we then see the power of the water.
Take care of that pup and yourself.

    1. It does doesn't it! That was merely coincidence too. I love being by the water, I find it so relaxing, but during storms it can be quite scary, my town had a tidal surge this winter, which was scary stuff!

  7. That nail color does go well with the sea. I fantasize about being a Grizzly in an enchanted forest -- so no surprise I wrote a fantasy, THE BEAR WITH 2 SHADOWS. :-)

Being on the Louisiana coast where the hurricanes slam regularly into us, I like the sea when calm. May your pup and you find calm seas.

    1. That sounds fun! Forests are great too, I used to love playing in them when I was younger. I like the sea when calm too, I couldn't imagine being in a hurricane climate, it must be scary! You be safe too in beautiful Louisiana!

  8. I wanted to be Ariel from the Little Mermaid when I was growing up. I eventually did dye my hair bright red- she was definitely my inspiration for that, and my favourite colour is green. I'm sure I probably did ask my mum for a sea-shell bra at some point too.
When the Mr and I lived in Brighton, our favourite thing to do was walk down to the beach on an evening (we were only a 20 minute walk from the seafront). We would pack a blanket & 2 plastic camping cups & buy a bottle of wine on the way down, then we would just sit there together, listening to the waves, watching the sun go down. It is one of the most wonderful things to do, as it allows you to just stare at the water, and let your mind drift.
Your pup is gorgeous- take care of yourself hun xo

    1. I've never actually seen the little mermaid, can you believe it?! I don't know why not because I love mermaids! Your seafront trips sound perfect, my boyfriend and I both love doing things like that, it's such a nice way to spend an evening isn't it :)

  13. That is so beautiful! I wish I had that view.
I have wanted to be a mermaid since I was a kid after watching the little mermaid :') My cousin and I used to tie our feet together with scrunchies and wear tiaras and pretend we were mermaids in the sea. This post just made me feel so nostalgic haha!
