A reason to be happy

Later on today, I will be going on my first holiday since I got ill. This for obvious reasons makes me extremely happy! I have been too ill to be able to go on a holiday for so many years, and although we are just going for five days, I know it is going to be amazing, and a break we both deserve, and definitely need. After all, it has been a tough four years. (Understatement of the Century)

I am going with my boyfriend Alex, who I haven't seen in months and months because I've been stuck in England with so many medical appointments and hospital stuff to attend to (damn you chronic illness for keeping me apart from my favourite human for so long!) whilst he has been busy working in Madrid.

We are going to the beach (of course) in Alicante, Spain, and then following that I will be going back to Al's home in Madrid! Que feliz estoy!

I am ridiculously excited, but I must admit I am also quite nervous because I honestly have no idea as to how well my body will cope. Five days on the trot getting out of bed is a big deal for anyone with severe M.E, so please keep your fingers crossed for me! I can't wait to share with you guys some snippets from our holiday. If anyone needs me I'll probably be dipping my toes in the Med.

I'm also going to be doing a feature on travelling abroad with a wheelchair so if that's something that interests you be sure to keep an eye open for it in the upcoming weeks.

Have you been anywhere nice this year or are you planning on going anywhere soon? I'd love to know!

Hasta pronto chicos y chicas!

  2. I am so happy for you, Hayley! Biting the bullet and travelling away from home looks terribly scary at first and I can guarantee, it's nerve-wracking. However, once you do it, it's incredibly liberating.

Although I am yet to leave England, I have tackled one of my biggest challenges with anxiety. I spent a weekend in London. I was rather worried as the answer to whether I'd cope or not was unknown. But once I was there, it was fantastic. Granted, I had to spend a couple weeks recovering afterwards but it was worth it!

You're going to have an amazing time!

    1. Thank you Tammy! I've traveled abroad since I've been ill, but that was to my BF's house in Madrid, so I could just collapse in bed for the week after flying. This time we will be doing something everyday, so it's kind of daunting but I've had a lot of rest in the lead up so fingers crossed all will be OK!

  5. My goodness Hayley, how exciting!!! I'm very excited for you!! Will you be staying on in Madrid for a while? Yay for a holiday! I have been thinking about holidays abroad a lot lately and the thought of catching a plane actually scares me, I don't understand why though as I have travelled many times on them before. I would love to hear how you go! Best of luck travelling and I hope you have an amazing time with your man!

    1. I agree, and as I always say, I prefer to do something and pay the price afterwards no matter how horrendous the pain may be, than not do anything at all! Thank you Mel!

  27. Hayley I'm so pleased for you! It must feel so daunting making this trip abroad but I was in a similar position when going back to work for the first time. At first you'll be so tired and wonder how you're going to manage it, but gradually it'll get easier and before you know it you'll be looking back on photos of an amazing holiday.

I look forward to seeing your photos, try not to rub it in though, especially with all us UK readers in this dismal weather :)
