Words of encouragement

If you saw my last post advice from a tree you would have seen that I've been having a flare up with my symptoms and I've suffered a nasty virus which left me feeling really rather unpleasant. (Side note - a virus when you have a weakened immune system is serious business) A lot of you seemed to like the message behind the post and in case you missed it you can see it here. The message behind it was a positive metaphorical one (I love a good metaphor) about standing your ground and being strong like a tree in a storm, and the response it received has inspired today's blog post. Some words of encouragement from me to you.

I'm a firm believer in the power of positivity. (You can see some previous posts from my positive series here: positivity+ positivity+2 positivity+3) If I didn't keep a positive mindset I don't know how I would have survived the last three years of serious illness and all it entails. We can all do with a little encouragement now and then though, after all times get tough for all of us, that's just part of life. Sometimes we can all benefit from a little boost on keeping a healthy mindset, especially when things aren't necessarily going to plan.

My recent flare up made me feel so miserable. Oh so miserable. I took to twitter to share my frustrations and that's not because I'm an attention seeking tweeter, but because twitter is the place I have so many friends and supporters, people who also have chronic illnesses, and people who don't. Regardless of who they are, I can always reply on people online to offer support. The support I receive online is invaluable and I am always so overwhelmed at how supportive and kind people can be when a person is going through a difficult time.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that a few small words can go a very long way. A few small words can be just what a person needed to hear to give them that little boost and to put them back on the bright yellow optimism path, the path of hope, and the path of determination (I told you I like a good metaphor!)

We all have the power to change a persons day via a few words of encouragement. The Internet is a powerful place, but what makes it so powerful are the people within it, and their kindness. We should share kindness, support and encouragement always. It is free after all!
