How To Make Moving Home Stress Free

Moving home, whether into rented accommodation or through a mortgage can be an extremely exciting time for anyone. It can mark the start of a new chapter, a new beginning, and maybe even be the opportunity to embark on a whole new life. It can also however, be quite a stressful time too. There are so many things to consider when moving house and lots of things that need to be organised. You might think you have everything under control, and if you do, good for you, you expert mover! But if you think you need a little help and advice, here are some top tips, tricks and reminders on making the move as easy and stress-free as it can be.

How-To-Make-Moving-Home Stress-Free

Start Packing Early On
This may sound obvious, but it is surprising how many people think that packing can be done within one evening. Most of us seem to accumulate a lot of belongings over time and therefore it may take quite a while to sort through it all and package it in a safe and organised way. Moving out may be a great time to have a clear out and declutter before having to unpack all of those unwanted items too, so having a clearing out whist packing makes a lot of sense. Killing two birds with one stone, so to speak. Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time for this and remember to pack your most unused items /least used rooms first!

Removal Companies!
Most people that attempt to move out of their current home on their own without professional help, will tell you that they will not be doing it again in a hurry (myself included) because it is physically exhausting, and can be quite time consuming. Paying a removal company to help you with your move helps make the overall transition so much easier and a lot less stressful. Moving boxes full of your life belongings are heavy and you will probably have a lot of them to get through, not to mention bulky furniture and heavy goods. Plus doing it alone may mean you need to source your own van/lorry which is one thing extra to worry about in a time you don't want or need excess tasks to think about. By using a removal company such as Mr Shifter London you don't have to waste energy on lifting items to and from your van, and means that you will have much more energy ready to unpack those boxes straight away and get to work on the fun stuff, like deciding where your house plants are going to live from now on.

Organise By Room And Label Everything
Label all of your boxes and try and keep boxes full of items categorised by room. By Putting all of your kitchen items in one box and having it clearly labelled will make unpacking simple with zero confusion. You may want to consider sub-labelling too E.G Kitchen cupboard, utility items, kitchen cleaning products etc..

Consider Putting Belongings Into Storage
As mentioned above, we often accumulate a lot of belongings over the years and this can become a serious issue with storage in the home. If you are moving house and are going to be limited on storage, or if you would just like your new home to be free of clutter and those keep-sake 'I can't bring myself to throw this away but have nowhere to put it' items, renting out a storage space could be a great solution to your problem.

Take Photos Of Electrical Items And Their Cables
An extremely useful hack and one that could prevent you wasting hours trying every single cable in every single hole is to photograph the wires at the back of your TV or any other electrical goods. By having a clear visual reference you can see what cable connects to what when you are setting everything up in your new home. It's also a big help if you keep cables packaged in the same box to the device they are required for.

Pack Your Kettle Or Coffee Machine Last So You Can Unpack It First!
The last thing you want when moving is to be left unable to enjoy a hot tea or coffee whilst you get stuck into organising! By having your drink maker of choice at the ready, will help you feel like you are already settled in, and you can offer all of your moving party (if you have one) a hot beverage as a token of good will. Maybe even throw in a few biscuits too, we are trying to create a happy moving day, afterall!
